Built in 1805 Crosby Lodge Country House Hotel enjoys an idyllic setting the heart of the peaceful Cumbrian countryside overlooking unspoilt parkland and the River Eden beyond.

The Sedgwick family purchased Crosby Lodge in 1970 and in the years since they and the hotel have gained an enviable reputation for quality and excellence.

Supremely comfortable, the Lodge maintains a dignified aura of tranquillity and solitude: richly furnished with fine period pieces of the Georgian era, our guests feel instantly at ease and relaxed.
Stroll around the grounds and pause a while to enjoy a delightful rural scene at every turn, where rolling fields meet an expanse of sky. The mature gardens have been lovingly and carefully planned: tumbling ivy softens architectural lines and cascades from the Lodge to meet the manicured lawns of the sun-drenched terrace.

We don't just think Crosby Lodge would be perfect for your wedding, we know it would be perfect. Since 1970 we have been organizing weddings and receptions here and have built a reputation for excellence and providing the highest levels of service on such an important day.

And now that Crosby Lodge has a Civil Marriage License we are able to facilitate the whole wedding - the ceremony, the reception and the accommodation.

The wedding ceremony can take place in the elegant surroundings of the Drawing Room, Bar or Restaurant. A truly romantic setting, weather permitting, is the Gazebo in the Walled Garden - a favourite for those planning a summer wedding.

The prices for a Civil Ceremony range from £275.00, inclusive of flowers.

Our extensive, beautifully maintained grounds and the Georgian architecture of the Lodge make a superb backdrop for the all important wedding photographs, plus the terrace is an ideal spot for your guests to mingle and enjoy canapés and a drink.

There is ample parking for the wedding party and, should you wish, you can reserve the entire Lodge for yourselves - please see our 'Exclusively Yours' page. We'd also be more than happy to help relieve some of the pressure by assisting with the planning of your big day. We can assist with the wedding cars, recommend photographers, organize the floral arrangements and even commission a wedding cake.


The 19th Century building is surrounded by private woodland and overlooking picturesque parkland towards the River Eden and lends itself beautifully for a weekend break, mid week business trip or private party. A perfect base for enjoying country pursuits such as shooting or fishing and, in addition to being just a short journey from the spectacular Lake District fells, Crosby Lodge truly enjoys a fabulous location. Crosby Lodge provides the ideal setting for a special occasion: a reunion, anniversary, a wedding reception or just a gathering of friends, we're able to provide the exclusive surroundings and atmosphere where you can celebrate in style

There is plenty to do and see if you are staying with us for a while. Wine tasting weekends are a speciality and always popular or, if you would prefer a more exclusive experience, we can arrange a private wine tasting to suit your itinerary.
